Google Pack: Making Computers Easier
January 11, 2006
The Google Pack is a set of essential software programs such as an antivirus application, anti-spyware, a PDF reader, chat programs, Google Earth, the Google Desktop, and more. Just one click to download, and everything else is taken care of for you, and everything is automatically kept up to date with the handy Google Updater. You can read more about it in the official Google Blog post and you can get it at the Google web site—just click on the Google Pack link on the bottom right side of the page.
My favorite parts? Aside from the fact that you can customize the pack, and you don’t have to worry about the parts you already have, is the really cool photo collage screensaver. Sure, Windows XP will flash a photo at a time up on the screen from a directory you specify, but the one that comes with the Google Pack frames each photo with a nice white border and makes interesting ever-changing collages of your photos. And that’s one of the things I like best about Google—making my computing life better, and easier.
