New Ratings System
November 20, 2001
I’ve just implemented the Official Pocket Goddess Ratings System. From now on, and on some of my older reviews as I have the time, I’ll be rating hardware and software products on a scale of one to five “goddesses.” Don’t say a word— I figure if Tucows uses cows, I’m entitled to using what I want in my reviews too. Besides, aren’t those stars that everyone else uses pretty boring by now?
While these rules are by no means hard and fast, here’s what you can generally expect:
Don’t waste your time, it’s hopeless.
Product or software application has major problems, i.e. won’t run without crashing, broke after only five minutes of use, etc.
The product works, but only just barely.
Below average in quality, workmanship, and functionality, though it may be worth your while if you find it in the bargain bin.
A slightly below average product, with quite a bit of room for improvement, but not horrible by any means.
An average product with some problems, but it does basically work as advertised.
A pretty good product, certainly worthy of your evaluation to see if it might meet your needs.
Overall a very solid product or application that is of generally good quality.
Very well done, with only a few very minor defects that disallow a perfect rating.
Great product, wouldn’t change a thing— run out and buy it today!
Reserved for the best of the best, superb products that are flawless in execution and design.
