One of the great things about handhelds is that they do so many different things, and can replace several items I used to carry around every day. Tapwave Zodiac
I’ve had my Zodiac for a week and a half now, and I must say that I’ve simply fallen in love. Even though it isn’t the perfect device, the Zodiac 2 from Tapwave certainly comes closer to that goal than any other Palm OS device I have ever used. It’s even replaced my Kyocera 7135 for daily use. Giving up integrated wireless was a little painful at first, but completely worth it. Palm Reader Pro
One of my favorite uses of a Palm OS device, aside from getting organized and playing games (not necessarily in that order) is reading ebooks. I’m a voracious reader, and I simply love having several books with me at any given time. Instead of having to lug around a bag full of books, I just put the electronic editions in my Kyocera 7135. That’s a good thing for my overloaded bookshelves as well!

Innopocket Metal Deluxe Case and Stylus Two-Pack for the Clie NR70
Every time I get a new device, just after I plug it in for that interminable first charge of the battery, I start looking for good accessories to go with it. Tops on the list, after I buy a Brando screen protector, is a nice case, and usually a stylus. That was certainly true for my Sonly Clie NR70, especially the need for a replacement stylus. The stock stylus is just too light, and the tip seems rather too scratchy for my taste. Thank goodness for the good folk at Innopocket— they had everything I need.

It’s a four in one, which means that you get a white stylus tip, a black pen, a red pen, and a mechanical pencil. The means of operation is pretty simple— at the top of the stylus the various options are listed. Simply look at the one you want and depress the button on the top. HandMark has done it again! The latest addition to their lineup of classic games for the Palm OS (the first was Scrabble) is Monopoly, the ever-popular game of capitalism and real estate development. Scribble Aluminum Case for the Palm m505
As I mentioned yesterday, it’s a good idea to protect your handheld investment. This is especially true with the m505, as the leather flap cover that comes with the device just doesn’t offer the same rudimentary protection that the hard plastic flip cover that came with earlier Palm models. Some people are just so darned clever it makes me jealous, and the folks over at Parallel Design are a good example of that fact. They make these really nice hinged plastic covers for the Palm V and m505 that nicely fill the gap between no protection at all and a bulky carrying case.

If you’re anything like me, you sometimes worry about the safety of your handheld investment. If you’re not, you may have started worrying after something happened to your first handheld, such as a fall to concrete that cracked the screen, putting it in your back pocket and forgetting to take it out before you sat down, knocking it off your desk and damaging the device, etc. Try as we might to be careful, accidents do happen. For that reason it’s a good idea to protect it with a carrying case at all times. While a case won’t save you if you drop your Palm out of a ten-story window, it will protect you from some accidental damage to a device that most likely represents a substantial amount of time and financial investment.

Clint Chappell has come up with a must-have accessory for the iPAQ, especially if you’re someone who doesn’t use expansion sleeves. He calls it the “Non-Expansion Plug” for good reason—if you aren’t using an expansion sleeve with your iPAQ and simply want the lightest, slimmest device possible, you need this accessory.
