JAVOScreen for the palmOne LifeDrive

June 18, 2005

I’ve used the JAVOScreen product before, on my Tapwave Zodiac, and was quite pleased. This version is up to the same quality standards, sized perfectly for my new palmOne LifeDrive. As before, this is sold as a regular screen protector, but it isn’t “ultra clear” like some other protectors. I prefer it though, as I’d rather have a very slight decrease in screen color saturation in order to offset some of the glare from office lighting.

JAVOScreen is fairly thick and very easy to install. Unlike the palmOne protector that was included in the package (and made of rather thin “squishy” plastic that showed stylus marks almost immediately) this one is built to last. Just don’t make the same installation mistake that I did! I didn’t notice at first that there was two rounded corners and two sharp corners on the protector, and at first I tried to put it on the screen “upside down” with the sharp corners at the top. I couldn’t figure out what I had done wrong until I looked at it more closely and switched it around 180 degrees. After that it took about 4 seconds to install, because I didn’t have any issues with air bubbles or dust getting caught between the screen and the protector.

JAVOScreen is available for a wide variety of handhelds, mobile phones, and other devices such as the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, Apple iPod, and RIM Blackberry. The LifeDrive version is $10.95, and every one comes with a screen cleaning cloth and installation card. Get one at the JAVOedge web site and protect your handheld investment.

4.5 out of 5
