Clip PRO 2.0
October 22, 2004
It’s hard to describe exactly what Clip PRO does, because it does so much. At its most basic, Clip PRO is a utility that enhances the built-in clipboard on Palm OS devices. With Clip PRO, you can copy as much as 64KB of text at once, instead of 1KB, which can potentially save you a lot of time. You also have the ability to have up to 10 different “clipboards” as well as four parked clipboards (which allows you to insert frequently used text or create your own templates for memos, etc.). From the main window of Clip PRO you can move clipboards up or down, edit the text they contain, or delete them entirely. You can also use the special Tool icon to call up a large variety of tools designed to give real punch to your text editing capabilities. For example, you can change the case of text to upper, lower, sentence, or title case. You can strip returns, extra spaces, or HTML code out of the text, or insert the date or time. You can create bulleted, numeric, and alphabetical lists, sort in ascending or descending order, insert symbols, and much more. In order to customize the Tool menu, choose Options/Tools and select the ones you want to appear.
This is important because Clip PRO can also be used as a completely stand alone utility somewhat reminiscent of a hack or DA. I have it set up to launch whenever I select a portion of text on my Tapwave Zodiac, though you can also use a hard button press or the command bar. When Clip PRO pops up, I am given the option to cut, copy, paste, paste last, select all, or delete, all of which are rather handy. I could do any of those functions with a few Graffiti strokes or stylus presses on the menu bar, but Clip PRO helps me do them faster. I can also import, export, append, or prepend the selected text to the clipboard, or I can use one of the tools that I selected from within the main Clip PRO application.

The tools are definitely my favorite; I can quickly take notes in meetings and conferences and then go back and format them nicely when I have a spare moment, instead of waiting until I get back to my computer and hoping that I still remember enough to understand my notes a few days later. Bulleted lists are particularly helpful, and now that I have the Sentence Case tool I never have to worry about capitalization any more, which is particularly important when I’m using Graffiti and rushing to get everything written down. I’ve been using Clip PRO for about two weeks now, and it has definitely become one of my “must have” Palm OS utilities.
Clip PRO 2.0 is only $16.95, but that’s in Australian dollars; according to current exchange rates that’s about US$12.50 or just under 10 Euros. But whatever the cost, if you do a lot of cutting and pasting, or just want to format your memos and documents more easily, run out and buy Clip PRO 2.0 right now. It’s the newest member of the PocketGoddess “Perfect 10” Hall of Fame, and that’s no easy accomplishment.

Clip Pro is very useful programme , but it will cause my Treo 650 reset frequently.
if it can post the selection to Task, Calender, Memo,SMS....will be great.

ClipPRO is a great product, but it conflicts with the Web (Blazer) program and causes my Treo 700p to crash when I try to enter the Web browser.
