SD Keeper from Vaja

July 7, 2004

SD expansion cards can add lots of extra power and functionality to your handheld device. I’ve got five myself, for everything from music and software to backups of my handheld and essential laptop files. Unfortunately only two fit in my Tapwave Zodiac, leaving three cards that can easily get lost if I don’t keep a close eye on them, or have somewhere safe to put them. That’s where the SD Keeper from Vaja comes in, and it’s the perfect solution.

Like all Vaja products, the SD Keeper is made of fine leather and shows an amazing level of attention to detail and workmanship. On the outside you’ll find a metal Vaja logo; on the inside you’ll find space for either two or four SD cards, depending on which model you’ve chosen. The cards are held in place in much the same way a slot on your handheld would; you push the card in until it clicks, and to remove the card you push down on the top until it is extended slightly above the slot. The case is held closed with a magnetic closure, which can make it somewhat different to open until you figure out the “trick”— instead of trying to pry it open at the bottom, I’ve found it’s much easier to push on the top of the case, sliding the two halves apart.

The SD Keeper is somewhat expensive, but it’s a nice little product. It would make a great gift for a handheld-using executive, or for the gadget geek that has everything. The model that holds two cards is $29.90, and the four card model is $39.90. Both models are available in black, or you can choose your own custom color option for an additional charge. Get more info or order online at the Vaja web site.
