Psycho Path from Handy Entertainment

January 28, 2004

I guess you could say this game is right up my alley. I know there’s a lot of controversy over such games as the Grand Theft Auto series on video game consoles like the PS2, and in some ways Psycho Path has the same premise. This game consists of nothing more than the quest to run over the pedestrians that are doing their best to scurry away from your car. The game is controlled completely with the stylus, so no button-mashing trauma here. There are different point levels for different people, with just five points for Grandma, ten points for punks, and 15 points for necktie-wearing, briefcase-carrying VIPs. There’s a time limit for each level, as well as a point total you have to reach in order to proceed to the next level. That keeps things fun and challenging, though not too difficult. Unlike Reverces and Burning Mirrors, Psycho Path is all about fast-paced arcade action and fun.

The graphics are really top notch— even on my Kyocera 7135, the action was very clear and easy to see. Each time to manage to hit one of those pedestrians, you are rewarded with a pool of green goo. I would like to have some nice sound effects, though I can understand that they can’t exactly put in anything all that graphic. Considering the game though, it would be nice to have a nice tire squeal here and there with sudden changes of direction, etc. As it stands, Psycho Path is one of those games that you can easily get away with playing in a meeting at work, so long as your boss isn’t looking over your shoulder!

Psycho Path requires 300K of RAM on your Palm OS handheld, as well as Palm OS 3.5 or higher. A high resolution version of the game is also available. You can purchase it for just $9.95, and a free trial is also available at the Handy Entertainment web site.

PocketGoddess Rating for Psycho Path from Handy Entertainment: 4.5 out of 5
