Non-Expansion Plug for the iPAQ Pocket PC

October 15, 2001

I am constantly amazed by the ingenuity of hardware and software developers, but I think that this one takes the cake. Clint Chappell has come up with a must-have accessory for the iPAQ, especially if you’re someone who doesn’t use expansion sleeves. He calls it the “Non-Expansion Plug” for good reason—if you aren’t using an expansion sleeve with your iPAQ and simply want the lightest, slimmest device possible, you need this accessory.

Why? Well, you can carry an iPAQ without the style pack that was included in the box, but you probably don’t want to. Not only does that leave the port exposed at the bottom, but the device itself has some pretty sharp edges. Those sharp edges poked through the back of the slim carry case pretty fast. Enter the “Non-Expansion Plug” and problem solved! As you can see from the picture, it covers the port and fills in the sharp edges, so you can carry your iPAQ without a sleeve. Even better, you don’t have to remove it to sync with your desktop PC!

If you don’t typically use an expansion sleeve with your iPAQ, then you really do need to get one of these. It’s available for $9.99 plus $2 shipping at the Modeltronics web site. They also sell small travel chargers for the iPAQ and plugs for the Palm IIIc/V.
