Borders Gets In On the Act: Free $20 Gift Card With Kobo eReader

by PocketGoddess on June 22, 2010

I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised considering the B&N nook and Amazon Kindle price drops yesterday: ┬áBorders just announced that they are offering a free $20 gift card with the purchase of a Kobo eReader.

Priced at $149 (the same as the new WiFi-only nook), the Kobo device is one of the least expensive digital book devices on the market. But wise consumers will be sure to check all of the technical specifications first, before making a purchase decision. The Kobo is similar in size to the nook and the Kindle 2, but it only has 1GB of internal storage memory, which is half of what its competitors offer.

If you’re interested in more details about this announcement and the Borders digital book strategy, the full text of the press release can be found here. You can find the full technical specifications for the Kobo eReader at the Borders web site.
