Seagate Go 500GB with old SimpleDrive 250GB

I may be telling you something you already know, but size really does matter–especially when you’re talking about mobile computing. I just got my new Seagate Go 500GB portable external hard drive, which is replacing my five year old SimpleDrive 250GB.

I thought I was ordering it because I wanted something easier to carry with me, but when I sat down to transfer everything over from my other drive, I found that it was almost full–there was only 15GB of free space left. Everything feels much roomier now, and as you can tell from the photos, the new Seagate is going to be much easier to take on the road.

I’ll be posting a full review as soon as the docking station and carry case arrive (they’re currently on backorder. If you’d like to support the site, use the Amazon.com affiliate link to check out all of the technical details. One of the Amazon Marketplace sellers is currently offering it at $175.99 with free shipping, which is the best price I’ve seen so far.
