This is a fascinating story, especially if you’re an art lover. Evidently Van Gogh sometimes painted over his works when creating new ones, so that some of his earlier paintings were “lost” in the process. Until now, there really hasn’t been a way to examine some of those earlier works, but thanks to a new type of x-ray technology, a hidden portrait of a woman has been uncovered in the artist’s 1887 “Patch of Grass” painting.
You can read more and see the portrait here.
