News Bits: TreoAreaCodes, New Accessories from Proporta, More

by PocketGoddess on August 2, 2006

  • RNS, the developer of one of my favorite Palm OS utilities, Hi-Launcher, has just released an update of another program: TreoAreaCodes. It not only provides a handy area code reference so you know where people are calling from, but it also livens things up by displaying additional information such as the flag of the area, maps, seals, operator logos for certain countries, etc. You can get more information at the developer’s web site or purchase a copy at pdassi.de.
  • Proporta has released cases and screen protectors for the hot new Motorola Q smartphone from Verizon Wireless, as well as some waterproof accessories for the Apple iPod. Waterproof headphones and cases mean that you can safely take your portable music player to the beach or pool, and you can even listen underwater! You’ll also find a new selection of cases and accessories for the Samsung YP-U2 MP3 player, as well as cool colored earbud headphones in your choice of pink, blue, green, black, or white. Find out more at the Proporta web site.
  • Olive Tree has plenty of exciting news this week; new releases include the Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament by Archer and Harris, and the Eerdman’s Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament (available at a special introductory price for a limited time. They’re also now offering ebooks for Blackberry users, including The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence and The Da Vinci Code: A Response by Gumbel. Get more information or make your purchase at the Olive Tree web site.
  • Astraware has released Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars for Windows Mobile2003 and Windows Mobile 5 devices. This is the full original PC game and it features an immersive storyline and intuitive controls that keep you in the action. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a preview version a couple of weeks ago and I must say the graphics and sound are simply awesome, and I’m hooked! This game is very large, so a storage card with at least 130MB of free space is required. The game is $29.95, but for a limited time Club Astraware members can get it for $19.95. For more information, a free trial, or to purchase the full version, visit the Astraware web site.
