Belkin Carabiner Case for Apple iPod Nano

Belkin Carabiner Case for Apple iPod NanoThis case features a very simple and unique design that addresses one of my biggest “gripes” with most of the iPod Nano cases that I review: if you’re going to hang the case on your belt or on a bag, let it hang upside down so that you can easily see the display! The Belkin Carabiner Case doesn’t suffer from that problem, and is rather stylish to boot.

In all respects, this case is simple and very plain; made of smooth leather in your choice of four colors, with matching stitching so you get a monochromatic effect. As you can see from the photos of the pink version I was sent for review, the stitching is all even and the workmanship is quite good. The screen and the click wheel are both left open, though you do get a bonus screen protector with the case–it’s on the cardboard insert that is inside the case in the package, so don’t throw it away!

Just about every part of the Nano is fully covered, except for a small portion of each side, plus the bottom corners. There is also a cutout for the hold switch on the top of the Nano. The interior of the case is lined with a soft, fuzzy gray material that won’t scratch the device.

Getting your Nano into the case is a simple matter of pushing it into the leather sleeve, top first. In order to secure the music player inside, you must pull the gray fabric tab into the metal fastener at the bottom of the case. You can then snap the tab to the back of the case for a smooth profile in your pocket or purse, or you can attach the included carabiner and dangle it from a belt loop or bag strap. The closure system is unique and quite clever; you can still plug in your headphones when the strap is secured. You can’t charge the Nano when the strap is secured, but you don’t have to take it entirely out of the case either, which is a good compromise.
