News Bits: Software Updates, Special Savings, and More!

It’s been a while since I posted a news update, so there’s a lot to report:

  • GMPSoft has several offers, including the new Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, a free update to the OakTree GNT Morphology, and special 30% off savings on the Concise Oxford English Dictionary from now through August 31st.   • Speck Products has just introduced a new line of “ActiveSport” iPod cases designed with athletes in mind. Features include mesh material for comfort, reflective material for safety, and comfortable armband or lanyard attachment choices. Models are available now for the iPod Nano and iPod video starting at $24.95. Speck has also introduced the MobileTune FM Transmitter & Charger for iPod, details are available at the Speck Products .
  • The folks over at WebIS have been extremely busy lately: they released Pocket Informant for Smartphone this week, and also updated both WebIS Toolbox and FlexWallet 2006. Updates are free for registered users, and Pocket Informant for Smartphone is $17.95 or you can get it in a bundle with Pocket Informant for Windows Mobile for $36.99.   • Paragon Software has released Handy Weather, a utility that offers 5 day forecasts and graphs for any city in the world A one-year subscription is $14.95, and you can get more information at the developer’s web site.
  • Vaja has released exquisite new leather cases for the Motorola Q; check them out at the Vaja web site.
  • Proporta has a new Music Accessory Pack with everything you need to protect your iPod or any other digital music player. The kit includes a universal neoprene case (which includes an arm strap and a neck strap), a screen protector, a screen cleaning cloth, and a headphone splitter that allows you to share your music with a friend.   • Broken Sword:Shadow of the Templars for Windows Mobile is coming, and after taking a look at the preview version I’m very excited about this game. Astraware is offering a special preorder price of $19.95 (regularly $29.95) until the game is officially unveiled on July 31st. If you’re not quite ready to commit, you can also sign up to be notified when the game is released and save 10%, or about $3. More information at the Astraware web site.
