The BEST library site EVER!! I was rather sceptical with this programme being from the USA. I usually find ANY support is just not available.
I bought the programme along with the CueCat scanner. Brilliant, though it does take a couple of attempts to get it right. Just swipe the scanner over the barcode, NOT TOO SLOWLY. I find it's better faster than slower! Support is best of the best!
Thanks guys for a great programme.

Since the entire data base system for books relies largely on the ISBN - how does it handle the 13 digit numbers compared with the older 10 digit code. i.e. the first three digits are certainly going to be different.

What about the Palm application? Looking at their site it looks *really* old. Will it run on newer devices (TX, Treos)? Have you used it? Is it practical?

It uses ISBNs by default, but ReaderWare is flexible enough to use any method you like. You could set up your library more like a bookstore, with categories and then shelve things alphabetically by category, or you can use your own numbering system and fill it in using the Location field.
I don't really have any library experience though, so your best bet might be to visit the Readerware Forums at http://www.readerware.com or ask the author directly (support address is on his page). He's extremely helpful and could probably get you in contact with a library that uses Readerware so that you can get more specific advice.

What system does Readerware use for cataloging? Is it the Dewey Decimal System? I am looking for a cheap option for cataloging a library for a woman's shelter.
