Comments on: palmOne LifeDrive

I lost the brightness on my lifedrive; the support service requires $24.00 just to talk with a non technical person on this issue, then he would refer me to a technician for additional $$.
Eventually this unit would , if is even worth the $25.With this type of support I’m thinking to trash the Palmone Livedrive and never be tempt to acquire any of their product again.

It seems that everyone that has purchased a Palm One LifeDrive has problems…down the road…having the device stop being able to beam. I am now one of them. I too…have tried everything. solutions?

please i need help….my palmone life drive has suddenly stopped being able to beam….i’ve made sure the beam option is on..it doesnt recognize another ir anywhere around it (close or far) and if i try to beam something TO it..the sending device cant find it either…it’s defintely this device..it was working great for months and suddenly stopped…i’ve done 20+ soft resets..please help me!

I’m planning on buying a LifeDrive palm and I’ve read a lot of reviews. The majority of the negative remarks are concerning the LD needing to reset or stop working completely. Does the 2.0 update fix those problems? I don’t want to spend all that money on a device that will only work for a few months. Thanks!!!

Thank you pocketgoddess for your review, I have to admit I crossed over to the dark side to Windows (Dell Axim X50) some time ago but because of the size of Hard Drive the Palm LifeDrive, I could not resist and came back. I had heard the reviews of its speed – but after reading your review, I could not resist the ability to view MS spreadsheet docs and its other improved functions. Thank you for your comments and opinion. I ordered my LifeDrive today and anxiously await its arrival. I believe once i get use to its speed, that wont matter as much since size it my real motivation for the switch. Take care Dell….PalmOne is back in town.

Thank you for such a quality review. I appreciate the effort put into this. I had a question about the use of a MicrDrive in the LifeDrive. Do you know if they published drop tests on the LifeDrive. I don’t know about the rest of you but my Palm m505 has been dropped and the hard case can testify to that. Any information on the LifeDrives drop survivablity would be useful.

I bought a palmone wireless keyboard to use with my lifedrive. If you check the website for the keyboard you used with your T it might tell you if it’s compatible if it’s not a palm piece.
Hope that helps, Lifedrive has sorted my life inside a week!

I’m seriously considering the LifeDrive, but does anyone know whether I’d also need to buy a new keyboard, or will it use the same as my existing Tungsten T5?

Thanks pocketgoddess! I had done alot of research into my first palm, and your review settled it on the lifedrive. Went and got it today. Its great, and very intuative to use – didnt take long to pick up at all. Just off to put 2.0 on like you suggest. Any tips for a student user? I’m planning on using it for notes – (I got a wireless keyboard) – but what organisation programmes do you recommend? will 40student work on it? Thanks for a clear and honest review!
