BoxWave Screen Protector

The good folks over at BoxWave were kind enough to send me a new screen protector to try, which is a very good thing– the one I’d had on my Tapwave Zodiac since early this year was getting rather worn out. The ClearTouch screen protector is similar to many others I’ve tried, in that it has a slightly adhesive layer to secure it to the handheld screen, but I found this one to be much easier to install. The plastic is a bit more rigid, making it easier to handle and less “bendy”– this allowed me to get it in the right spot on only the second try. That’s good enough for me, because installing a screen protector is usually a frustrating exercise in futility, due to the fact that I do not have the manual dexterity of a brain surgeon.

The ClearTouch is not completely clear (BoxWave does over one that is, the “Crystal” version) but that’s just fine with me. I spend most of my day in an office under those harsh fluorescent lights that tend to create lots of screen glare. With the ClearTouch screen protector installed, that’s no longer a problem, and it’s much easier to read the screen of my Tapwave Zodiac when it’s laying on my desk (I didn’t spring for the cradle, which was a separate purchase). The texture is really nice too, more like “pen and paper”
instead of an ultra-slick, slippery surface. My Graffiti 2 recognition is definitely better, but that could be due to the fact that my old protector had gotten very worn around the Graffiti area.

When this one wears out, which I know won’t happen for a very long time, I’ll definitely be back at the BoxWave site to purchase a replacement.
