SWOMP, Volume 2

Here’s the latest update of What’s on my Clie. And since I’m always looking for new and interesting software, please write me if you have some favorites that aren’t on this list.

Main/Productivity Apps

  • Agendus–my simply indispensable Datebook, To Do, and Address replacemement program; color & icon support, alarmed todos, etc. Get it here.
  • DayNotez– a great journaling program, and can also serve as an organized repository for all sorts of information Get it here.
  • Facer–my current favorite launcher/today page utility. I just can’t say enough–it’s skinnable, it’s highly customizable, and does exactly what I need in only 167K of space. Get it here.
  • HanDBase3–I use it for relatively simple lists, to keep track of my book and DVD collections, etc., but it’s far more powerful for that if you need it to be. Get it here.
  • HandStory–allows you to quickly and easily clip web content, images, etc. to your Palm OS device; also a memo, Palm DOC, and ebook reader. Get it here.
  • Mobipocket–provides both an ebook reader and a web companion for easy content synchronization. Get it here.
  • PalmReader–free ebook reader Get it here.
  • PocketQuicken–seamless integration with Quicken on the desktop; PQ allowed me to toss that awful checkbook register and keep perfect financial records on the go. Get it here.
  • ShadowPlan–an outliner/project management program that has really changed the way I do things and gotten me organized. Highly responsive developer, and it’s very reasonably priced. Get it here.
  • Showtimes–movie showtimes on your Palm OS device, including theater, movie length, and plot information. A little tricky to set up, and it requires Perl, but well worth it when you’re at the restaurant and wondering which flick to see where. Get it here.
  • TV Browser–Once you get it set up, it automatically downloads TV info to your device on a regular basis; also has favorites, massively hyperlinked information, and the ability to send programs to your Datebook with just two taps, with optional alarms and repeats. Get it here.
  • WordSmith–simply the best Palm OS word processor I have ever used. Get it here.

    Games

  • Bejeweled–completely addictive, and always the first new game I install on each device I get! Get it here.
  • Big Money–fast arcade action, with a strategic element as well Get it here.
  • Bounce Out!–a challenging puzzle game with great graphics and sound Get it here.
  • Patience Revisited–one of the best color Solitaire collections for the Palm OS, and it’s free! Get it here.
  • TextTwist!–a fun word game that challenges you to find as many words as you can within the time limit. Get it here.
  • WhatWord–a TextTwist variation that’s even more challenging than the original. Get it here.

    Utilities

  • DA Launcher–freeware DA launcher Get it here.
  • FontHack123 with the OS5 Lubak fonts–makes things look a whole lot smoother and more readable, and it’s all free. Get it here. Use the OS5 fonts for a terrific effect, available here.
  • JackFlash–allows me to store all sorts of stuff in Flash ROM, and keep it safe even in the case of a hard reset. Use it with JackSprat (which removes unneeded built in applications) for even more room. Get it here.
  • PageDownHack–allows NR70 users to put virtual hard buttons on the status bar at the bottom of the screen to launch programs, page up or down, etc. Get it here.

  • SafeHack–automatically hides or masks private entries when you turn off your device. Get it here.
  • ScreenShotHack–exactly what it says, I use it for all the screen shots in my reviews. Get it here.
  • TealMover–very handy file manager that allows me to view files by type, move things from RAM to card. Get it here.
  • VolumeDA–a remarkably handy little DA that allows you to control alarm, game, and system volume, as well as quickly turn off all sounds for a preset time (similar to Silence, but freeware). Get it here.
  • WordComplete–makes Graffiti a whole lot quicker by popping up a list of words to choose from to complete what you’re writing. Get it here.
  • XMaster–freeware hack extension program Get it here.
