Let’s start with the Stylus Two-Pack, which is an absolute must for anyone who is less than satisfied with the stylus that came with their Clie. The package includes one stylus with a matte silver finish, and one with a shiny silver finish. I chose to use the matte stylus because it perfectly matches my NR70. Since it’s made out of metal, it has a nice heft to it that makes it a pleasure to hold. The tip is white, so it’s easy to see, and it glides nicely across the screen even though it isn’t spring-loaded. The end of the stylus features a cap that screws off to reveal a reset pin, an absolute must for any stylus that you plan to carry in the silo of your device. There’s nothing worse than needing a reset pin and having to settle for a toothpick or a mechanical pencil! I’d highly recommend this stylus to anyone with an NR or T series Sony Clie, and if you nave an m5xx series Palm, never fear, as there’s a metal stylus two-pack made for that model as well.

Next is the Metal Deluxe Case for the Sony Clie NR70, made out of aluminum and lined inside with black neoprene. This case is simply beautiful, and it’s what I’ve been looking for ever since I had to give up my m505 metal case when I upgraded to the Clie. It is beautifully finished in a matte style that is an almost exact match to the Clie itself. But what got me the most excited is how easy it is to insert and remove my device from the case– several other cases attempt to make use of the cutouts on the back of the NR70, but they’re usually either impossible to attach or cause cosmetic damage to the device itself. But these attachments worked perfectly, and let go when I wanted them to. (Unless you have a USB cable, you are not able to charge or HotSync your NR70 while it is in this case.) A shame really, since I could see leaving my device in here all the time– it adds virtually no extra size or weight to my NR70. Either that, or the NR70 is so big and heavy already that I just don’t notice. : )

The cutouts are all in the right spots, allowing access to the camera lens and capture button (if you have a “V” model), the MS slot, the headphone jack, the jog dial and back buttons, the hold switch, and the HotSync port on the bottom. The cutouts are actually ust a big bigger than I would have liked, but I suppose that means that people with larger hands than mine will have no trouble at all accessing the various ports. The neoprene lining is nice and smooth and does a good job of protecting the device from any cosmetic damage. And since I leave my NR70 in tablet mode all the time, that’s really important to me. On the outside, you’ll be glad to know that the hinge is smooth and shouldn’t snag your clothes or anything in your briefcase. And the latch doesn’t come open unless you pull it open, which means that even if you drop your device a short distance, the case shouldn’t come open.
All in all, I am very pleased with both of the Innopocket products. They are very well made and fill an important niche in the NR series accessory market. The Metal Stylus Two-Pack is availble for $15.99, and the Metal Deluxe Case is $34.90. At those prices, either one would make a very nice Christmas present for the Clie NR70 on your gift list. You can pick them both up at the Innopocket web site.
