Can probably be found at StylusCentral.com!! I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to try out several of their products lately, and I must say that if you’re looking for a special Christmas gift for a fellow handheld enthusiast, you might want to check it out. Here are a few of the items I felt worthy of mention:
If you have a fairly small budget:
» The Comfort Grip Shorty is one of my favorites– it’s a compromise between a full-size stylus and the tiny one that fits in your handheld. It’s designed to slip inside a case so that you can still keep it with your handheld, and features both a stylus point and a black pen. Choose one or the other by just giving the barrel a twist. The rubber grip is very comfortable indeed, and you can get one for just $8.95, exclusively at StylusCentral since it’s their own design.
» Pentopia Chameleon Replacement Stylus, available for several different Palm OS and Pocket PC devices, on sale now for $15.95. This one is really handy because it fits in your stylus silo and adds a pen inside the barrel that you can use anytime you need to write something down. It also includes a reset pin and works very well as a replacement stylus with its spring-loaded, high-visibility red tip. Be careful though, as my version for the Palm m505 had a strange little clip on it that sticks out just a tiny bit from the body of the Palm. No big deal if you carry it in a case or in a purse or bag or your pants pocket, but if you want to carry your handheld in a shirt pocket it might cause a few problems.
» Another replacement stylus option is the Cross Micropen Retractable Pen/Stylus. It’s a very elegant little black stylus that also fits into the stylus of several handheld models, including the m50x, III, V, and VII series Palms, as well as the HandSpring Visor Prism, Deluxe, and Plataninum, plus the Sony Clie. Instead of having a stylus tip at the bottom, it’s at the top, with a retractable pen at the bottom. It works very well and has something of an “executive feel” to it. It also has a clip that sticks out just a tiny bit– makes it easier to remove from the Palm, but you can’t use a terribly form-fitting case with it. The Micropen sells for $12.99.
» The Cross Solo Digital Writer is a great idea- an inexpensive full-size stylus that comes in 4 delightful translucent colors. At only $9.99 you can afford to give (or get) several. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the stylus point– it really worked well on my m505’s screen. And if you ever want to turn the Digital Writer into a regular Cross pen, you can just purchase a pen refill and easily convert it yourself.
» The StylusCentral Foursome Comfort Grip Pen is an expensive full-size stylus that also includes black, blue, and red pens. The comfort grip is nice and cushy, and the white stylus tip is great because it is so easy to see on the screen of my handheld. A great value at only $14.95.
» The Platinum Twister is a fun little three-in-one stylus that includes a pen and a pencil, plus a large eraser under the top cap. I really like the rubber grip on this one, which can make long Graffiti sessions a little easier to bear. It sells for $9.99 and comes in six different colors.
For the hopelessly lost:
» The Stylus on a Tether will solve all of their problems, as it simply can’t be lost. This is obviously the perfect present for anyone you know who simply isn’t able to hold onto a stylus for more than two minutes after the first time that they use it. It works just like those pens at the bank and the grocery store– the base has just a bit of sticky tape on it that allows you to fasten the stylus to your desk. It’s a nice stylus too, full-size with a nice springy tip that is a pleaure to use. $9.99 is a small price to pay for never having to buy another stylus again.
If you’d like to give a nicer present:
» You can’t go wrong with the Rotring four-in-one stylus. I have long admired Rotring products, and still have a fountain pen I bought over ten years ago that still looks and writes beautifully. There’s something about the all metal construction and attention to detail that simply glows with quality. StylusCentral offers several to choose from; this review is of the Quatro Datapen in a nickel finish. It has a mechanical pencil, black pen, stylus point, and your choice of either a red or blue pen for a total of four instruments in one barrel. If you want to impress someone, this is the way to go– the Quatro comes in the signature Rotring gift box and is an excellent value at the normal price of $45, but right now you can get it for only $34.99
» Another nice option is the PDA Skins PDAPhone case, which is designed to carry the two modern essenctials, your handheld and your mobile phone. The expandable pouch on the front will accomodate any relatively slender phone and your handheld resides inside the zippered compartment via a velcro attachment. Several credit card slots are on the other side of the compartment, which means that this case will hold just about everything you need for anything from an office meeting to a quick trip to the mall. It features a heavy duty belt clip on the back so that you can attach it to your belt or waistband, and a shoulder strap is also included. It is available for $34.95 in black only.
And for a walk on the wild side:
» The Swiss Army Signature Light II with Stylus is certainly a unique choice. For only $23.50 on sale, you get a handy pocketknife, an emergency stylus for your handheld, and a flashlight! This knife includes 2 small utility blades, scissors, a nail file, Phillips & flat head screwdrivers, a mini ruler, and a couple of other tools I haven’t quite figured out yet. It’s small enough too at just two and one quarter inches long that it can easily be attached to a keyring and carried everywhere. I can’t think of any gadget lovers who wouldn’t positively love this one. You can give confidently too, knowing that Swiss Army quality will ensure a gift that will be used and enjoyed for a long time.
As you can see, it’s possible to do all of your Christmas shopping in one convenient place, StylusCentral. They also do engraving on selected items if you want to make your gift even more special. I’m very impressed by both their service and the selection of handheld accessories and products available. Now if anyone wants to pick up a few gifts for me, here’s my list…
